Korean Organizations and Institutions Unite for Evening of Harmony
The Korean American Society Greater Kansas City (KASGKC, President Kay Mun) successfully hosted its annual Christmas party, 'Year-End Celebration 2025,' on December 7th at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Despite the cold winter weather, many supporters and Korean compatriots from several Midwestern states gathered together to commemorate the end of 2024 and welcome the new year in this meaningful celebration.
The event was attended by various Korean organizations and institutions in the area, including the Kansas City Korean School, Sangnok Association (senior organization), Korean Business Network, the Council of Korean Ministers (Korean Church Association), and the Korean American Sports Association for the Disabled, creating an opportunity to strengthen unity and solidarity within the Korean community.
During the event, attendees enjoyed dinner while being introduced to local Korean businesses and entrepreneurs, and also shared KASGKC's major event plans for 2025.
Awards Ceremony for Community Service and Entrepreneurship
A special moment of the evening included the presentation of a plaque of appreciation to Board Chairman Sung Bae Kim for his dedicated service to KASGKC. Additionally, the 2nd Annual Entrepreneur Award was presented to Jay Kim, President of Data Locker, honoring the contributions of local Korean entrepreneurs.
The party featured diverse performances from local community organizations and churches, receiving enthusiastic responses from attendees. The highlight of the evening was a performance by singer Gaeun. Known for "I'll be with You," a song from the drama 'Camilla's Flower' OST, Gaeun recently appeared on 'Sing Again 4.' Her passionate performance had everyone dancing and brought the party to a heated climax.
KASGKC provided generous prizes through a raffle drawing, including round-trip airline tickets to Korea, successfully raising donations for the association's operational funds.
An Evening of Intergenerational Unity Between First and Second Generations
This event was particularly meaningful as first and second-generation Korean Americans mingled naturally, with strong attendance from young people, creating a forum for intergenerational communication and harmony.
President Kay Mun stated, "We are grateful to everyone who attended despite the cold weather. It was a precious time where various Korean organizations and institutions came together to achieve harmony within our Korean community. Especially seeing first and second generations mingling together, we could envision a bright future for our Korean community. KASGKC will continue to do its best for the advancement of rights and community development for our local Korean compatriots."
KASGKC, along with Vice President DJ Kim and Secretary General Cherish Cho, continues to serve as the focal point of the local Korean community, organizing various cultural events and fellowship activities.
This 'Year-End Celebration 2025' will be remembered as another successful event for the Korean American Society Greater Kansas City, providing warm year-end memories for local Korean compatriots.
