K-pop enthusiasts from the Kansas City area gather to host a special festival. On July 19 at 4:30 p.m., the “Water Bomb” festival will be held at Lenexa City Center.
This festival is hosted by KC K-pop Community, and was designed with the motif of the Korean Water Night Festival. Although it is not an event hosted by the Korean Society, it is regarded as a meaningful event showing the spread of K-pop culture and the enthusiasm of the Korean Wave in the region.
KC K-pop Community is an active community with around 20 K-pop dance cover teams, and some of these teams will participate and present various performances at this festival. It is expected that local K-pop fans will be able to enjoy dance performances of popular songs by Korean idol groups on a stage prepared by themselves.
In particular, this event is even more meaningful because it is a festival where the local community voluntarily expresses their interest and love for Korean culture. It can be seen as an example of how Korean pop culture also has deep roots in the Kansas City area.
The KC Korean Society encouraged the efforts of the local K-pop community and encouraged the active participation of Korean people in the region. “It's very encouraging that local young people are interested in Korean culture through K-pop and even planned their own festivals,” he said. “I hope many Koreans who are interested in K-pop will attend.”
